This document is the API reference for the Entrust/Toolkit for Java (referred to as the Toolkit throughout this document) generated directly from the Toolkit's source code using the Javadoc tool from Sun Microsystems Inc.
The Toolkit provides both high-level and low-level APIs that enable a Java application to perform security related tasks. The Toolkit adheres to the Java Cryptography Architecture (JCA) and supplements it with numerous cryptographic algorithms. The design of the Toolkit allows applications to use open standards, such as the PKCS#7 standard and the SSL protocol, through both its low-level and high-level API.
High-level tasks performed using the Toolkit:
A Programmers' Guide, in portable document format (PDF), accompanies the Toolkit. The Programmers' Guide describes the architecture of the Toolkit API and provides procedures and sample code to demonstrate the major tasks you might want to perform.
The Developers' Handbook, found in the Entrust/Toolkit Developer Workshop HTML Help documentation, is a good source of background information on the use of Entrust/Toolkit products and on the cryptographic standards and algorithms they implement. The Developer Workshop also contains information about cryptography in general and about the Entrust Public Key Infrastructure, Entrust/PKI.
